“The K Box can be used to teach interns and residents who have minimal exposure to laparoscopic surgeries so that they can improve their hand eye coordination even before they actually scrub in to assist on laparoscopic cases. For me, who can already perform laparoscopic procedures, it helps me maintain my dexterity when I practice on it, even if I don’t perform the surgeries daily. What sets the K Box apart is that the ports are set at an angle, the way ports in an abdomen inflated with pneumoperitoneum would be. This helps me become used to the angle my hands have to be in to operate effectively, so I have less difficulty when I’m actually performing the surgery or when I’m suturing. It also has a single port for those who would like to try their hand at doing surgery using this method. It’s a versatile pelvic dry box that really helps me so that I can perform better on my patients during their surgeries.”
